This is a three-day workshop led by Professor Susan Young that provides training and accredittion in the delivery and facilitation of either R&R2ADHD, or R&R2MHP. The workshop is aimed at healthcare practitioners and allied professionals to learn to deliver the R&R2 pro-social competence programme for treating adolescents and adults with ADHD (R&R2 for Youths and Adults with ADHD) and mental health problems (R&R2 for Youths and Adults with Mental Health Problems). These programmes teach the skills and values required for prosocial competence and provide a direct group intervention for young people and adults with ADHD or other mental health problems through the delivery of core modules that address:
1. neurocognition (attention, memory, impulsiveness and planning skills);
2. problem solving (consequential thinking, making choices and conflict resolution);
3. emotional control (anger, anxiety and managing lability);
4. social skills and values (non-verbal, social perspective taking and empathic responding); and
5. critical reasoning skills (rationalization, decision-making skills and moral reasoning).
The workshops teach the background and development to the R&R2 programmes, their evidence base from a summary of the scientific literature, their theoretical approach, structure and content. Group sessions are modeled by the trainer and include interactive small and large group exercises.
Those who satisfactorily complete this training event will be approved by Professor Young for accreditation to deliver the programme. The Certificate of Accreditation is awarded on application to the Cognitive Centre of Canada.
Who should attend?
The training is suitable for all healthcare and allied professionals (including trainees and assistants) who are working with young people and adults with ADHD and/or mental health problems.
Note: all those attending the training must have previously purchased either the R&R2ADHD or R&R2MHP programmes from the Cognitive Centre of Canada. It is essential that delgates attend the training with the Manual and one copy of the Participants Workbook and PALS Guide. If your organisation has not previously purchased the programme Kit and Materials, please order these by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org. We recommend orders are placed in good time to avoid express delivery costs.
