This is a one-day workshop led by Professor Gisli Gudjonsson, author of the scales, and Professor Susan Young that provides training in the administration and scoring of the Gudjonsson Suggestibility and Compliance Scales. The Suggestibiity Scales are used to assess an individual's responses to leading questions and negative feedback instructions when being asked to report a factual event from recall. The scales were developed to identify young people and adults who are particularly susceptible to erroneous testimony during questioning (e.g. police questioning or giving evidence in court) and have been widely used internationally in both forensic and clinical settings. The workshop teaches the rationale and background to the development of the scales, their administration and scoring in an interactive and applied format with participation in small group exercises.
A Certificate of Attendance will be provided on successful completion of the workshop. Delegates must register at the start and close of each workshop to be awarded a Certificate of Attendance.
Who should attend?
The training is suitable for all healthcare professionals (including trainees and assistants) who are working and/or conducting research in the criminal justice system.
